Crocodile Tears

Crocodile Tears is a dark comedy drama, capturing a pivotal, transformative moment in the life of a young woman. Lola, a “professional mourner” by trade, is hired to attend the funeral of a young man Theodore Walton posing as his grieving girlfriend. Over the course of this morally ambiguous assignment, the boundaries between performance and reality blur. As tensions rise, both the deceit she’s perpetuating and the strains in her personal life push her to the brink. Once at the pulpit, poised to deliver a scripted eulogy, she finds herself littering her speech with honesty without revealing her true identity. It is a speech that begins with a confession: ‘I’m pregnant.’ Now tied, through this strange and surreal profession, into the Walton’s world she suddenly finds herself presented with an opportunity to step into the facade and make it real, leaving her former problems behind and embracing a new identity.
